Hello all,

We are very excited to unveil our 2 new (lightly used) chipper trucks all decked out in Superior Ideas advertising garb.  The guys are very happy with our purchases.  These trucks hold more chips than our former truck, but the best part is that they have built in tool compartments for storage.  This storage makes it much easier to get organized and on the road for a job.  Look for them when you are out and about – we will be driving them all around Central Florida to tree service jobs!

It is hard to believe it is July already!  We have been very busy this spring/summer with tree service in Debary, Orange City, Deland and points south of the river.  Now that our rainy season has started we are expecting some emergency tree work calls.  After the storm last week we were without power for awhile due to a branch that broke and landed on the power lines.  That was rather embarrassing for a tree company!

If you have concerns about any of your trees, our ISA Certified Arborist, Jesse would be happy to come out and inspect them.  We offer this service for a nominal charge.

Have a great 4th of July – Happy Birthday, America!

Hi Everyone -

We are 1 day into the hurricane season of 2011.  At a tree service you don’t need the date of June 1st to tell you – the increase of tree work calls gives it away!  If you have any trees that are in need of trimming or removal now is the time to take action.  You don’t want to wait until the storm is heading our way.  The weather service is calling for an above active season.  We don’t know if that will materialize or not, but it only takes 1 storm to do a lot of damage.

Enjoy the season & stay safe!

In my last post I described a large Laurel Oak that had blown over in that storm we had on March 31.  This week the guys cleaned part of it up.  I don’t know if you are aware of this or not, but according to Florida law in most instances when a tree goes down across multiple property lines, each owner is responsible for cleaning up their own  property.  We were hired by the trees owner to remove the rollover stump and trunk that demolished the shed and fence on their property.  In many ways cleaning up a downed tree can be more dangerous than felling one.  This particular tree had very limited access to it, which added to the complexity.  The tree removal job was completed with no incidents – as anticipated!

We are STILL receiving calls from people in Deland, Orange City and Debary for large tree removals from the storms of March 31st.  The tree below is a huge Laurel Oak that uprooted in Debary.  It took out 2 sheds, 2 fences and stretches across 4 properties.  I would not want to have been around when it fell!

We are fortunate here in central Florida to avoid the awful tornadoes that struck so many states this past week.  We are likely to have more storms this spring, however.  Please be safe!  Make sure you have a working weather radio and take cover if it is advised.

If your property is treed, plan ahead.  Contact a tree service professional to inspect your trees and make recommendations on trimming and /or removal.  Superior Ideas has an ISA Certified Arborist on staff for just that purpose.  We cannot guarantee a tree will not do damage in a bad storm, but we can reduce the chance of that.

Here is to a beautiful, quiet spring!

March certainly did go out like a lion this year in Central Florida!  We have not had all-day storms like that for a very long time.   The rain, hail and high winds that permeated our area last Thursday wreaked havoc on many trees.  We have received numerous emergency calls with trees on houses, garages, blocking driveways etc.  While some of these trees appeared perfectly healthy, others were noticeably deteriorating and should have been removed before they had the chance to cause property damage.  I suggest all Central Floridians take some time this weekend and walk around their property looking for potentially dangerous trees.  Do you have trees with rotten areas?  Are some of your trees leaning toward a structure?  Have some of your trees not come out into full leaf?  Are there dead branches hanging over structures?  If so you may want to contact a tree professional for a quote on trimming or removal.  Taking preventative action is always more cost effective and also safer!

Until next time,
